A proposed class-action lawsuit has been filed against Futuredontics, the parent company of 1-800-Dentist, over the company’s recent data breach. Russian-based ransomware group Qili claimed on its blog June 28 that it stole an undisclosed amount of data from 1-800-Dentist. The group posted several sample files reportedly containing information from the last decade, including lead-generation information, customer data, employee payroll and salary records, confidentiality agreements and financial data. The hackers threatened to publish the files unless the company contacted them and paid an unspecific ransom amount.
